Checklist 3: Die-casting dies

1 through 6 essential for determining unit

1    Die halves: weight or dimensions.
2    Operating temperature of die halves.
3    Heat-up time (h).
4    Quantity of heat to be added or dissipated (x kW at die temperature y °C) without runner or 
      casting temperature and processing rate (kg/h) without runner. (Data without runner 
      requested as runner cooling is normally performed with water due to the large quantity of 
      heat to be dissipated.).
5    Casting material.
6    Operating voltage (V/Hz), 3 PE.

7    Pump capacity (x l/min at y bar) or permissible temperature drop across die (°C) and graph of 
      pressure drop (bar) as a function of flow rate (l/min).
8    Control mode: heat transfer fluid or die with Pt100 resistance thermometer or J, K, T or N 
      thermocouple.
9    Cooling water mains: pressure and temperature range.

Important: For dies originally designed for use with water, please ensure that the dimensions of the
temperature control channel system are sufficient for operation with thermal oil.
